The Next Great Adventure

With the promotion of self publication and all the other work that has been going on here, Dad decided around 2am this morning (22/11/2013) that it was time to begin his next adventure.

He was seen off earlier the previous evening by myself, my brother, my sister in law, and my sister, as well as his wife (our mum), and an enigmatic being known only as A Lorraine.

After this time of story telling, laughing, crying, joking and mickey taking, we saw how tired both mum and dad were, and we decided to leave them under the (sometimes) gentle care of The Lorraine.

When Dad found the timetable for his travels, he let Mum know gently, which woke her from her drowsing, then, with the same gentleness he showed in this universe, he boarded his favourite mode of transport, the Interdimensional Steam Train, and set off with a smile and a wave.

For those of us closest, that smile was a reminder that his pain has ended, and the wave, an indicator that he will pop in to all those that knew him, from time to time. Usually at the most inconvenient and in opportune moments he can.

While we are sad that he is no longer here, we are happy he now has no pain, and is experiencing more extraordinary things that his writers mind will be frantically weaving into a new story.

  1. Enjoy your travels in the new worlds you have entered Steve – You have been a force for good in THIS world, now it’s time to lend your strength to those in the next other worlds.

We shall miss you but are so proud to have been able to call you FRIEND!

  2. Steve – The world has been your oyster, now the universe can be your lobster. Go and enjoy it as we have enjoyed knowing you. You leave a wonderful legacy for us to remember you by and that will endure. Perhaps in another dimension we’ll meet again.

  3. Odd clicking “like” on this post, but you and Steve know what I mean. Back to being stardust again for a while Steve while you read and choose from the brochures in the waiting room. Thank you most sincerely for being such fun in this instalment, and my best of wishes for your next one.

  4. What a beautiful post to see Steve on his way. I’m sure he would have approved of it hugely. I am very sorry for your loss but seeing a loved one suffer is always difficult. My condolences to you and your family.

  5. This posting made me cry. I only knew Steve by reading his book and through social networking exchanges, but I will miss him. Strange how connected I became with someone I’d never met in person. Please accept my condolences for your loss.

  6. Thank you to everybody.

I have a little plan or two for the blog, before we wrap things up, and allow Dad’s blog to rest in people’s Favourites to be referred to when needed, or just when they want to remember him fondly.

  8. My condolences to his family. I didn’t speak with Steve that much but we had a few interactions, and he came across as a warm and considerate person who wanted to help others, and I enjoyed the contributions he made to the writing community through this blog.

  9. I feel truly blessed to have known you for the time that I have Steve, and to know you as FRIEND, not only as a wonderful author, who will continue his journey now on his own terms, unbound by the tethers of this world, but free now to continue your journey into other fantastic realms where your inspiration and courage will stand as tribute you for eternity. With love in my heart, you will be missed. Until we meet again in that other world, travel onward in peace and tranquility my dear friend.

  10. When I read this, it made me cry, but it is very special. Steve will be missed by so many around the world and I’m only one of them. We emailed often before he was taken ill the lat time. He made me smile all the time. I’ll always remember his kindness and sense of humor, as well as courage in every situation. We are all blessed that you shared your life and talents with us.
