Blog Tours and Imagineer

Recently, I came across mention of something called a blog tour.  I was, of course, totally in the dark!  Just what is a blog tour, I wondered.  Fortunately,m the answer was forthcoming without too much delay.

Basically, a blog tour consists of a writer or publisher spreading the word about an new book release.  In this case, they make use of other peoples’ blogs.  By getting the book reviewed, the author interviewed, and/or an excerpt of the book onto the host blog, it’s hoped to increase interest, exposure and, of course, sales.  As I understand it, the author or publisher may pay somebody to organise a tour.  The host blog doesn’t get paid, but they do get some juicy extra content!  It sounds like an excellent scheme.

I can understand organisers wanting to be reimbursed for the time that they devote to finding suitable host blogs, but have to say that I certainly couldn’t afford to pay out for it.  Imagineer, however, would be very happy to act as an host blog for any tour involving books that fit with our general audience target.  We don’t really want to feature, for example, erotic fiction or “get rich quick” style books!  We want to maintain an audience of all ages.  So, we’re happy to be contacted about participating in blog tours as hosts, but reserve the right to feature only such works as we feel comfortable with.

If you’re an author and you want publicity, please do contact us.  We’re happy to feature interviews (according to a pro forma), excerpts, third party reviews and general publicity releases.  You do not have to have a new book about to be launched!  We’re happy to feature any past publications too.

It’s worth noting that our blog posts are publicised on Twitter, Facebook, Smashwords, Goodreads, Google Plus, Pinterest and LinkedIn.  You can help spread the word even further by using any, or all, of the share buttons below every blog post.

About Steve

An author since the age of 13 years, writing again dominates my activities. My "Imagineer-ing" blog is my primary site. Also: Beginner knitter since November 2010. Favourite knitting techniques: cable and lace. Beginner cross stitcher. Beginner jewellery maker. With the promotion of self publication and all the other work that has been going on here, Dad decided around 2am this morning (22/11/2013) that it was time to begin his next adventure. He was seen off earlier the previous evening by myself, my brother, my sister in law, and my sister, as well as his wife (our mum), and an enigmatic being known only as A Lorraine. After this time of story telling, laughing, crying, joking and mickey taking, we saw how tired both mum and dad were, and we decided to leave them under the (sometimes) gentle care of The Lorraine. When Dad found the timetable for his travels, he let Mum know gently, which woke her from her drowsing, then, with the same gentleness he showed in this universe, he boarded his favourite mode of transport, the Interdimensional Steam Train, and set off with a smile and a wave. For those of us closest, that smile was a reminder that his pain has ended, and the wave, an indicator that he will pop in to all those that knew him, from time to time. Usually at the most inconvenient and in opportune moments he can. While we are sad that he is no longer here, we are happy he now has no pain, and is experiencing more extraordinary things that his writers mind will be frantically weaving into a new story.
